Millennials are beginning to come into their own this year. Many of us are in our early 30’s or approaching the big 3-0. We are to the point of where we have been at our first job for some time, bounced around in the post Great Recession economy trying to make ends meet, or are experiencing difficulty trying to catch on.
As a fellow Millennial, I think it is important to have dreams and to take those dreams and make them goals. Goals are something that we can accomplish. Whether it be the person we ultimately want to grow into, the type of career we want to have, relationship goals, financial goals, etc. We all have the potential to accomplish what we want to accomplish. As Napoleon Hill said, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”. I believe he is absolutely right, provided we take massive action towards our goals. But what if what we are currently doing just isn’t getting us where we need to go?
Then it is time to completely flip the script. I am not saying to flip the script all the time, but when current actions are not working, when people do not believe in you, when you are doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result it is time to make a massive change. Tony Robbins has often said life is full of changes and how we get where we want to go is consistent focus and consistent action. So Patrick, are you saying that I should quit my job and just walk out tomorrow?!? No, I am not saying that at all. I would first decide what it is that you specifically want, determine what actions are going to get you there, and then move forward. I would also say that one should consider flipping the scrip if the organization they are affiliated with does not have the same goals as you do. Millennials, determine what your goals are and move forward.
I hope that everyone is having a great 2016 and I wish my fellow Millennials continued success moving forward.
