Taking the Cloud Further: Google Photos

Late last week Google made a big announcement at the I/O conference announcing “Google Photos” a cloud based solution for your digital photos. One of the big announcements was early adopters get unlimited storage. Users can access their photos via the web and apps, and also upload their photos via both. Additional features include organization, searching, and if you have a series burst mode photos the ability to make an animated GIF.

Currently there are services like Box, DropBox, Microsoft’s SkyDrive, Amazon’s Service tied in with Prime, and others. I use SkyDrive, Amazon’s Service and Google Photos on my iPad and iPhone. Personally I think that Amazon’s service provides the best value as I already pay for Prime each year and it is free. That being said it doesn’t hurt having my photo’s triple backed up.
